Adam, the son of a simple fisherman, enrols at the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo, the epicenter of Sunni Islamic power. On the first day of term, the Grand Imam, who heads the institution, dies suddenly. Adam then finds himself at the centre of a relentless power struggle between the country’s religious and political elites.
