Set against the backdrop of three distinct worlds (a nightclub, the city, and the maquis), Soy Cuba depicts Cuba’s gradual evolution from the Batista regime to Fidel Castro’s revolution. These three narratives reinforce the communist ideal in the face of capitalism’s stranglehold. Throughout these episodes, Cuba frees itself from its political dependencies to assert its unique and autonomous identity, with all its contradictions and hopes.
