Seamus Murphy

Seamus Murphy has received seven World Press Photo awards for his photographic work in Afghanistan (where he travelled twelve times), Gaza, Lebanon, Sierra Leone, Peru and Ireland. He has made a number of music films for musician PJ Harvey, for her albums Let England Shake and The Hope Six Demolition Project. A Dog Called Money, his feature documentary about his collaboration with Harvey, was screened at the Berlinale in 2019. He is the author of four books including I Am the Beggar of the World (Farrar Straus Giroux. 2014) which offers a rare glimpse into the lives of Afghan women. His book The Republic (Allen Lane. 2016) was the subject of an exhibition in Dublin in 2017. In February 2018, his exhibition Life is in Many Days, presented an overview from his entire archive.
