POITIERS FILM FESTIVAL
INTERNATIONAL CINEMA SCHOOLS FESTIVAL
40th edition - Friday 1st – Friday 8th Dec 2017
In Poitiers, for eight days, young international artists, professionals and the audience share together in a creative buzz: previews, screenings of short films and feature films, debates, cinema workshops, cine-sandwiches, Piou-piou sessions for kids… The Poitiers Film Festival continues to fulfil the mission its founder Henri Langlois gave it forty years ago: to seek out and support cinema in the making.
For this anniversary edition, the Poitiers Film Festival is showing highlights from these past ten years, splitting the International Selection of school film into two competitions (short films and feature films) and, as part of the France-Colombia season, presenting a focus on young Colombian cinema.
For this carte blanche at the War on Screen festival, we have chosen five films that stood out during our 2016 edition. Representing the diversity of cinema genres (fiction, animation, comedy), these short films bear witness to a variety of points of view and subjects related to combat and conflict.
“What strikes you in Poitiers, is the general quality of the work on show. Fiction or documentary, live or animated, big budgets or penniless productions, all have their place in a competition surprisingly homogenous and cheering.” Écran noir
