With Jean-Noël Grandhomme, Dr.Daniel Mollenhauer, Odile Gozillon-Fronsacq, Raphaël Georges
On 4th August 1914, immediately following the declaration of war, France sends its troops to Alsace-Lorraine. It is vital for France to free a territory that was lost but never forsaken following its defeat in 1870. Embodied in the collective imagination as a fragile woman to be saved from the clutches of the German invader, this territory is inhabited by a people who, in less than a century, survived three wars and changed national sovereignty four times, usually under duress. This is a film about human tragedy, in this centenary year of the 1918 Armistice.
